Necromancy!

Wow I didn't remember how much I actually like writing. I like the idea of other people reading this and it motivates me to write more, even though I know that the only time people are here is when I put a link on facebook or something. I did contemplate moving the blog to a new site and give it a new name and adress and well I did.
But as it turns out I never liked the way it turned out enough to start making regular posts or anything, acctually I never made a single post there.

The name of this blog "ortmastaren" is bad too and not to mention the ".se" that's a swedish domain name.
I wanted to let people from all over the world read this and that is why I changed to english (quite recently)
The design also needs a makeover, it has been the same way for like three-four years and I never mustered the
strenght of mind to do something about it.

Besides doing everything that I mentioned above I also thought about mixing some other stuff in there.
Maybe have a movie rewiev friday or something and then write trivial stuff on the other days and be a bit more personal. Because the main reason people follow blogs is because they are interested in som weirdo who is writing, well I am not an intresting person, I'm not a celebrity or a 16-year old girl who buys clothes with her dads credit-card and puts the picture on the internet.

What I belive I can do is be genuine and write about stuff that matters to me or that I find interesting.
And some day maybe the renewed better blog will be up, if I can pull my thumbs out of my ass (as the saying goes)....

Behold the ressurecction!

Yeah I haven't written here in almost 6 months but the annual "best movies from this year" list is too fun to pass out on, and to be frank I am a bit hung over and feel like writing and listening to cool music.

In general 2011 was the year of shitty movies and this list won't be easy to make. I could easily without any effort name 50 movies from this year that I hated but sometimes even the most decaying turd contains a diamond or two. So here goes:

10. Limitless

Yes depressingly this movie made it into my top 10 list.
This isn't all bad though, it is quite fast paced and interesting.
Some moral dilemmas and
strange possibilites present themselves when a new super drug that
enhances the mind of a person comes into
the hands of a nobody.

Atleast worth watching. 6 out of 10.

9. Just go with it.

I already made a full review of this movie but to summerize it here this is an ok
Adam Sandler comedy. It has its ups and downs but never really got boring.

Also 6,5 out of 10. Worth watching too...

8. Contagion

I actually saw this in the cinema, In a small auditorium with a few other people while the
others blasted with crap like captain america and twilight.

It wasn't quite as good as I had hoped but is still the most accurate and frightening vision of
how a pandemic would spread and could kill millions of people.
The fact that appealed the most about the movie to me was the fact that just because you are a famous actor doesn't mean you are immortal or die at the last 10 minutes of the movie, against the otherwise so too often reminding hollywood norm.

Still at the 6,5 out of 10 movies here...

7. The help

About an aspiring author that wants to bring light on the situation of african american maids during the fifties.
Wasn't as good as it could have been but still a diffrent and emotional drama with a few memerable moments.

6,5 out of 10. Almost tipping over to 7 but not quite.

6. The Rite

A new exorcism movie. There are always a few new ones of them and so was it this year too.
Although these normally end up like crappy and dissapointing rip-offs of the grandfarher of all theses movies
"The exorcist" from 1973 "The Rite" manages to bring new life to the genre and got me hooked.
Anthony Hopkins is also probably the only one that could have managed to play this role and the whole movie probably wouldn't have been so great if it wasn't for him.

Dark, renewed and well executed. 7 out of 10

5. Source Code.

Actually a good action movie (finally) that threads new grounds but keeps it's dignity and newer goes over the top ála The Expandables. Also despite beeing a sci-fi like movie it keeps it's ties to reality and our present society.
Well done.

7,5 put of 10

4. Puncture

Puncture is something as unusual as a non censorshiped Hollywood american-critizeing movie.
A small lawyer firm takes on a huge case in which american hospitals refuse buying safety needles who would prevent many thousand deaths in hospital accidents each year.

Based on a true story and in the leading role we have Chris Evans who actually does a really good job as the drug addicted and self destructive but still brilliant lawyer Mike Weiss.

7,5 out of 10.

So now for the top 3 of this year;

3. Warrior.

Started of really well with brilliant acting by for example Nick Nolte and a very intresting storyline.
Got a bit dissapointed at the last hour of the film which could have been sooo much smarter executed.
Still one of the best movies from this year and a must watch for atleast every guy :P

8 out of 10.

2. Rise of the planet of the apes

This movie was in my oppinion very underrated and deserved more praise than it got.
Extremely well done animations and realisticly looking apes.
A storyline that in my oppinion didn't lack good logical explanations, which I really though would destroy the movie before actually watching it.

8,5 out of 10

1. the devil's double

This is
by far the best job I have seen from an actor this year and possibly in my whole life.
Dominic Cooper plays Uday Hussain, the mad and crazy son of Saddam Hussain and a military man named Latif Yahia who is forced to become a body double to Uday. It wasn't before checking imbd afterwards that I realised that they were played by the same guy, brilliant.

The plot is also intriguing and very intresting. The most underrated movie this year and also the best.

9 out of 10.

Yeah so as I said 2011 wasn't really a good movie year for me. Almost everything that went up at the theatres made me want to puke. "I am number four" was this years worst movie and probably the worst movie I have seen in my entire life.
Blockbusters like Captain America, Green Lantern, Scream 4, Final Destination 5 and so on (I could continue all day) made me wonder if people really have that terrible taste in movies or if movies these days are just becoming worse and worse but people continue watching anyways.
I will probably never understand.

Moving blog...

I am in the process of moving my blog to wordpress.com and there are a lot of new features and stuf that I have to get into and learn and then there is customizing the page and so on. The idea is for the blog to become a bit more international than it currently is. The other idea is that I'll start to write about movies just like one a week or so and then write about other stuff the other days. I also ordered a camera so hopefully you will get some vlogs (!!!)

So stay tuned and I will post the new andress here when it is fully up and running.

Cya guys :)

Good evening

Well for me it's rather good "in the middle of the night" but anyhow. Sitting here writing for myself and listening to depressing music. I'll share it to you just because I can.

Since Spotify is ruined I had to turn to other ways of listening to music which means youtube for the most.
I have music on my harddrive but it's quite old and I get sick of a song if I hear it more than 10 times.
I guess paying for spotify premium isn't very expensive but I've always been the "fight capitalism" kind of guy.
A true socialist that thinks everything should be free (that's not actually what i think but it would be nice)
Speaking of politics, see how I just flow from one subject to another, anyhow I'm not the kind of guy who likes to discuss politics and so on but I have my believes inside my head.

One of those ideas is that sharing files on the internet shouldn't be illegal. Yeah sure the artists who makes the music lose some money but for someone like Jennifer Lopes or someone of that magnitued it's only very small amount of the revenues that comes from selling albums. Most money comes from conserts, selling merchandise and so on.
Plus there is no greater way for an artist to get exposed to a broad audience than through the internet where news travel faster than anywhere else. Sure itunes and so on is great but i just feel like why should i pay for something I can listen to for free at youtube anyways. I just feel like the whole system is old and weird and needs a makeover.

Chris Medina is pretty famous but for those who haven't heard of him he is an american idol contestant that has a girlfriend who got into an accident and got paralyzed. The song is about him not leaving her when she needs it the most and so on. A very beautiful song and feels way more genuine than all the love-bullshit on radio.

Also I'm thinking about moving this blogg to wordpress. Give it a makeover and getting acess to
some stuff I don't have here. 99% of all the "blogg.se" websites are of girls reviewing clothes anyway.
Let me know what you think of that.

Cya'll

Summertime

So now it's the warmest time of the year here. It's gotten to the point where you have the windows open all around the clock and when you sleep you can't have the sheet over you or the bed turns into a pool of sweat.
Yesterday I took a bikeride to the hospital to visit a friend who is hospitalized for beeing abused and his knee is basically a mess. Well my point is when I got there (it's about 8 km or something) I looked like I came out of a lake, that's how sweaty I was, or atleast on my back.
People always long for summer and so on, especially in Sweden where we only have like two-three warm months a year
and it's almost punishable by death to not be out in the sun on a nice day. I am one of those people who prefers
not beeing overheated and drenched i sweat so my favourite time of the year is the autumn when it starts getting a little cooler and it's actuallt enjoyable beeing outside.

But I am planing on a little longer bike-roadtrip in about two weeks. Since last year when I did military service I haven't been out in the nature and camping and all that like I used to do all year around back then. I like beeing out in the nature and so that is definitely something I want to do, atleast once this summer.

Speaking of military service, as I said before there is this music festival who's the biggest in all of sweden called Peace and Love and it's in a town 20 mins from where I live. Many of my old military buds are attending that so I went over there to see them again. When you spend every day of a whole year together you become good friends with many and so meeting them again was nice.

As I said before I don't know what you like to read. I switched over from a 100% movie concentrated blog to a little more personalized styled one. Not because anyone said something but because I was just tired of writing movie reviews (all the time) They will still be around though. But writing is like theraphy for me, I mostly write when I feel a little down.

Here is my favourite song right now so enjoy: Foo Fighters - Walk.

Three new movie reviews!

Hello everyone. I had a friend over for the past two days so I did stuff with him other than writing here but now he has gone to where he was headed in first place and so I get some time to spend here again.
We basically just chilled hard and watched movies and played guitar hero until our hands were sore.

I think I want to talk a little about the movies we saw because thay all were a bit spectacular.
The first movie we saw was Insidious which was like a mix of Paranormal activity and drag me to hell or something.
It had the same build-up as paranormal and was easily as scary but not as dragged out and all that and in the end it had a really intresting twist and ended up beeing a really nice movie in fact, which really suprised me.
You think it would be one of the "scary music leading up to a jumping cat" kind of movies but it's definitly not.
And maybe you also think it's all boring splatter like the saw movies because it's made by the writer and director of saw but this is a whole new level of just scariness and there wasn't a single drop of blood in the whole move that I can remeber.
One of the scariest movies ever and I can really recommend it.

Score 8 out of 10.

Then we watched
"The Mechanic" Jason Stahams newest action/testosterone/ruthless killing/hitman-movie.
You probably know what kind of movies he likes to do and we love him for it, atleast I do because he rules.
He basically played a hitman who was forced to kill his only friend and then got screwed and then turned against his former "employer".
There were some parts who were very "hollywood" and a bit easy to foresee but in the end It was just enjoyable and fun to watch.

Score 7 out of 10 (mainly because Jason is the king)

And last but not least we watched "The Troll Hunter" an awesome Norwegian movie in the "blair-witch project" style about a group of school students who follow a troll hunter in the Norwegian woods chasing down trolls who step out of their territories. A really creative and fun movie, who knew the Norwegians could make such awesome movie magic.
Sure the movie is a bit budget and the special effects were not always a 100% but it made up for that in suspense and mood-setting. All the diffrent trolls were also just exiting to witness and it felt like a mix between a virtual safari and a vampire movie (he killed them by flashing them with UV-light turning them into stone).
Probably the best low-budget movie I have ever seen, you should all check it out, it is the definition of awesomness.

Score 7,5 out of 10

That's all folks. see you next time :)

Mystery

You reades are indeed a mystery. For the past few days I have not been writing about anything in particular, just what was on top of my head and what I felt like writing about. You are still visiting it seems so why not then.
Maybe I'll put in a movie review in the future again but that's got to be when I really feel like writing one.
Super 8 though, the first movie in a long time that I was quite dissapointed with. It tried to be so much that it wasn't and it all became a bad mess. But enough about that allready.

The biggest
music festival in Sweden is the "Peace and Love" festival. I'm looking forward to it, not because I want to see any of the artists or anything, in fact I don't even have a ticket. Well that's strange you think but the reason I'm looking forward to it is that I live just a few minutes away from the city where it is held and so many of my old friends are goin g to be there, which means I get to see them again. Friends from far places so that's always nice.

As of lately I have been listening alot to foo fighters. Their latest album wasting light is really good in my oppinion.
They are by the way playing like tomorrow here in sweden so if I had been a consert guy maybe I would have attended that or the Linkin Park consert that was like last week. The place I enjoy listening to music the most is the car.
There is nothing like driving around town to the tunes of your favourite songs, it almost feels like an interactive music video or something. Beats any loud and sweaty consert beside some drunk teenager, that's what I think atleast.

Take care folks!

Ryan Dunn is the topic.

Ok so Ryan Dunn is officially dead, yes I say officially because of all the rhumors beeing spread that it is a hoax.
There is even a pictures beeing spread that claims to be a fox news article where Ryan says its a joke and so on but I checked the fox news website myself and there it said that he really is dead.
The strangest part was that the night before hearing about it I watched jackass 3,5 (the extra material from the jackass 3D movie).

I grew up watching jackass and all the spinoffs. I remember going to like 7th grade and watching jackass on MTV every night. Even to this day I still like the movies and all that so Ryan Dunn and all of the other guys almost feel like old friends, in a weird sense.

Here is the thing though, Ryan Dunn drowe drunk and killed himself and also a buddy of his.
Yes he was a celebrity and very liked but what he did is in my oppinion the defenition of irresponsibleness,
he killed another person who was also loved and had friends/relatives by drinking and driving.

Yes I will miss him and Jackass won't be the same without him but imagine if it was your friend or sibling or something who sat in that car with him, that would be a whole diffrent story.

I joined a facebook group though which I found a bit funny, it's called: "God if you give us Ryan Dunn back we will give you Justin Bieber"

So that's my thoughts on the whole and if there is a lesson to be learned from this it is "don't drink and drive"
He will be missed though.

PS: I really want this shirt, I think it's quite clever but for most people it's only confusing.
Anybody who gets it?

Journal entry style

Hello, just felt like writing something random. It's 02.40 in the morning and what can you say other than "bad sleeping habits are bad" But oh well I have nothing in the morning to attend to so why not sit here and waste time instead.
I don't know if I'm the only one who does this but when I get bored i have like three websites that I usually visit every day and then I flip between them like zapping on the tv. One is Youtube where I look for new videos from guys I'm subscribed to and then I look at facebook and maybe to some other site and then back to youtube in like ten minutes.
Yes folks, that's how intresting my life is.

Atleast I had a wonderful time with my friends past night and today where we celebrated a birthday and ate cake and paddled canoe and swam in the cold lake and then sat in the sauna. Yeah basically had a great time.
This is also something I typically do, when you are having a sleepover and you are about to sleep you suddenly get
all lively and end up talking to each other for like 1,5 hours. This is typically where the best kind of humor
comes from, laughing our guts out from seriously bad word-jokes and so on. Great times.

Yeah so that's that. I guess I'll talk to you later.

Word to that.

Not so limitless...

I saw Limitless today but I'm fed up with writing movie reviews, bloging shouldn't be something you do because you have to, atleast that's how I feel and lately some reviews I have to admit have been forced out. I don't even know if you guys like reading them or what because I get no response whatsoever. The only comment I have gotten from like the last year or so have been from friends of mine. No one has liked the facebook page either so shall I presume you don't like reviews?

I want this to be a give and take thing, a dialog between me and my readers. So far it has been a quite
lonely monologe and it's not very easy for me to shout at nothing and keep my motivation going.
So if there are less and less posts here you know why. If you want me to write new stuff tell me about it and I will happily oblige, maybe I'll even get my motivation back.

So now you know, until next time take care.

Megatron dramatic entrance

This is a picture I made for the iridiscent artwork contest Just thought I'd share it to you guys for fun.

Wasn't super hard to make but I liked how it turned out. Just playing with colours
and so on. Hope you like it.

Priest

Well I don't know why Paul Bettany always does the movies with the religous themes and why he always plays the lunatics but this is another of them.

There has been a war raging between humanity and the vapires for many centuries. At first mankind had a really hard time withstanding these unholy creatures but then came the "priests" Trained to kill vampires like farmers kill pigs they alone turned the tides of the war and the vampires almost went extinct.
The priest were put back into a society that no longer needed them, forced to work as janitors and so on.

But the vampires are returning stronger than maybe ever. The church denies this so the priest sets out on a journey on his own to seek out the truth and to find his vampire-abducted daughter and by doing so breaking his church vows and becoming an outlaw and criminal himself.

The most annoying aspect of the movie for me was that every actor was famous enough to be recognized but not from where. This resulted in my head almost exploding trying to figure out where they came from.
It turnes out the bad guy is Eomer from the Lord of the Rings, the sheriff is the boyfriend from the Roommate and he also starred in twillight. The "high priest/bishop" is charles widmore from lost. There you have it so that you don't have your head melt during the movie.

The movie in itself wasn't very innovative, you could easily relate to other vampire movies and I just wasn't impressed. The action was of course overexeggurated but the special effects were quite bad and looked from time to time very unnatural. Over all the movie was a bit of a letdown, not because the movie was worse than other movies from the same genres, but because it didn't stand out.

I'll give it a few plusses though for not beeing dull and for trying to be cool and innovative.
An ok movie if you are into the genre but otherwise I would definitly not recommend it.

The score
for Priest is 4 out of 10.

Hey ya'll

So I've been to a gaming convention over the past five days to just have fun and hang out with some buddies.
But here I am again so let's get down to business.

It seems since I started writing in english I have been getting visitors from all over the world. I suppose you all come from google by chance but anyhow I have never had this many visitors so for that reason alone I will continue writing in english. If you are a reader from a country other than sweden pleas leave a comment or so on how you came upon this blog and what you think about it. I'm just curious.

As I said before I have been away the past days doing other stuff than watching movies and tv so there will be no review of anything today. If you have a suggestion for something I should watch/review you can also put that in the comments below this entry.

So that's it for today, just wanted you guys to know I'm still alive and breathing.

Also enjoy this sick guitar-techno :)

Sabaton

I don't know what kind of music you are into but here is a band I really like. They are (like me) from Sweden and are getting more and more popular. Here is their first music video, enjoy!

Also don't forget to like me on facebook. There I post when I have written something new or just
when I feel like shouting something funny/intresstung out.

Screaming Eagles - Sabaton.

Just go with it.

Due to an internet problem of mine i haven't been able to write new entries for a few days and I'm very sorry about that, but don't worry I haven't stopped blogging, not at all and now I have my internet back so expect some more posts now in the future. So here I am again and I though I would write about "Just go with it" the newest of the Adam Sandler movies.

When it comes to Adam Sandler comedies they vary a lot in my oppinion, atleast over the latest years.
We all remember titles like happy gilmore, waterboy, big daddy etc and they are almost considered classics all of them, and they are all great and also quite similar in style.

I'm a big fan of Mr.Sandler and so I have watched almost all of his movies. From like 2005 and forward his movies tend to be very family friendly so that is why i liked "don't mess with the Zohan" the humor is diffrent, riddiculus and over the top almost like austin powers or something, which I find hillarious. I also liked "Funny People" which is also something he usuallt doesn't do. There he plays a comedian who's got a fatal disease and struggles to fix his very broken personal life but also stay on top of his career. In my oppinion his best movie in a long time.
Then we have bedtime stories and grown ups which I didn't like at all and weren't very funny or special.

But anyhow, I could talk about Adam Sandler movies for a whole day but this is a review of "Just go with it" so I'll stick to that for now.

Guess who's the comic-relief of the movie???

Danny Mccabee (Adam Sandler) is a successfull plastic sergeon who spends his weekends on the pub picking up women by pretending he is married. On one such occasion he meets the stunning Palmer (Brooklyn Decker)
and they spend the night together on the beach. Palmer then by accident finds the fake wedding ring that Danny had put in his pocket before. Danny now has to convince Palmer that he is in fact married but is getting a divorce.
To play his wife is his assistant Katherine (Jennifer Aniston). When Katherine by accident speaks about her children Palmer believes they are Dannys too and it all ends up with the whole brady bunch going to hawaii and there things start to get really confusing for all of the involved.

Palmer (Brooklyn Decker)

This isn't the funniest or best Adam Sandler movie but it certainly isn't the worst one.
There are some romantic-movie clichés but that's ok. I actually enjoyed this movie quite alot,
it never slowed down and went boring instead it kept a steady and good flow throughout the whole movie.
I even litterally laughed out loud at two times, and there were many funny moments a little here and there.

In the end Just Go With It is a "what you would expect" movie, maybe evenb a little better.
Some classic Adam Sandler-moments. Just a fun and relaxing movie to summarize it.

The score is 6,5 out of 10. I could recommend it.
